Today, just witnessed one of the best motorsports action in recent years. Behold, the new Formula 1 2009!
Ah, it's been a long time coming. Been months since Hamilton won the driver's championship of 2008. This year promised a lot more with new rules and new technology being used. Observe!
And a whole load of weird rules and adjustable wings as well as specially designed rear wings to list out.
Aha! What does this has got to do with the Melbourne race? Everything! Observe! The starting grid!!!!

Former champion at 18th. Ferrari nowhere near the tops? Bewildered? Don't be!
That's how the race started. Well, Barrichello slipped after his engine suffered some weird failures, but eventually got it running as well. Then, unluckily, he got caught up in a mess!
Well, the mess at the back. Look, Kovalainen smashed his back..... Later, he got smashed in front too before escaping. This mess was cleaned up pretty quickly after Kovalainen retired and Heidfeld as well as Webber are forced to pit. Sad, ain't it? Thankfully, Barrichello survived with a slightly spoilt front wing. Lucky eh? Oh, and the Ferraris managed to squeeze through using their soft tyre gamble at the start to go up to 3rd and 5th. Wulala? Wait till you see what happens.
Only at the 10th lap, THE TYRES WERE WORN OUT. How hilarious is that? It was then when the Ferraris as well as Kubica were moving so freaking slowly and Barrichello made his move on Raikkonen. And how lucky it is that the damaged part of Barrichello's front wing got knocked off! Now he's perfectly fine! OMG? Sad for Raikkonen though. And well, 3 to 5 laps later, the soft tyre gambles came to an end as all the drivers with the soft tyres (Massa, Raikkonen, Kubica, Hamilton) are forced to pit due to the worn out tyres! LOL!!!!!
*Note : These super soft tyres only last you 5 laps of performance according to the commentator. Then on, it's disposable sh*ts. 0_0

Another sad story to follow. Piquet gets a little nudge from Rosberg right before the first corner. First, he gets knocked to the side and suddenly accelerates so insanely quick then proceeds to turn and spin into the sand! Guess what happens? Air pollution!!!!!!!!! Gosh, it's only been 1 day since Earth Day!!! =S
From then on, it was a demonstration of overtaking and pit strategies as the teams with the KERS system show how hard it is to get pass them. The KERS *I'd call it a curse* is actually like the nitro boost you get in Need For Speed. You get a maximum time of 6.6 seconds every lap to use it. It can be recharged using braking or something to sort of work the rear tyres. Drifting for the win? LOL. Well, at least in F1, they don't do that. They smoke tyres instead! Woooo!!!!! More air pollution! *Great thanks to especially, Massa* The disadvantage of this is that once this extra weight is placed into the car. The optimum weight point switches and becomes higher. Making grip and handling a lot harder. Hence, the Ferraris struggled a lot while McLarens also did in qualifying. Heidfeld and Alonso had their pain respectively as well. Hamilton wasn't too bad today though. Those were the 6 drivers using the KERS. Unfortunately, Kubica was too tall so the car's weight was a lot more than the required maximum weight if the KERS had been installed. Well, I'd say he's lucky to not be able to obtain the KERS!
At least there's an advantage in it. Timo Glock said something like this... *quotes him* I can't get pass Alonso! Every time I try to get pass him, HE USES THE FREAKING KERS TO GET AWAY! ARGHHH OMGWTFBBQ ^%#@*^$#%)#%.....
Well, maybe not that many bad words. But well, he sounded very desperate. Poor Glock. Well, Alonso got 80 extra horsepower whenever he uses the KERS. So yeah, I guess it had its advantage in playing a defense =P Sort of like the Cursed Seal in Naruto, don't you think? XD
Then, came the main drama! With 13 laps remaining, Vettel goes in and comes out with soft tyres. Button pits and gets out with softs as well. Kubica is now with highly heated hards. Game on! Kubica is going to have the front two for tea! At least, that's what I thought. And it really happened! After 5 laps, Vettel struggled immediately with Kubica chasing him for 2nd. In just 2 laps, Kubica was already at Vettel's tail even when it was a 5 second gap 2 laps before. Game on, I thought. THEN.......
Kubica saw the opportunity.... 2nd place was his! That was the opportunity he had. THE FIRST OVERTAKING OPPORTUNITY that may come along later if he passed this up. It was very tight. But NOOOOOO, it was time to overtake. Robert Kubica makes his move from the outside... and shuts Vettel completely!!! Great....... if Vettel was a stationary duck. Vettel was a car moving at what, 200km/h or more? Not sure. Well, I guess he couldn't do some weird emergency brake. He turned. Boom! Crash! Kubica knocks onto Vettel and Vettel flies into the grass! Kubica has his right side of the front wing damaged, Vettel has his left damaged. They went out. Now, we shall see the role of the Front Wings! After about 100m, Vettel crashes into the wall with failure in handling thanks to broken front wing. 100m in front, Kubica longpiaks also! Boom. And 2nd and 3rd place is no longer theirs with 3 laps remaining! O.O........ Okay, a little bit off. Let the video explain!
*faint* Well, I'd say they seriously blew it. Blame Vettel for not giving up, but I guess you can't really stop a car like that so quickly. Well, you can argue that Kubica might have won it if he passed through. Then again, blame Kubica for being greedy. Battle of two viewpoints. As a result? Vettel got demoted 10 places for the upcoming Malaysian GP *faint* Poor guy...
And AS A RESULT, the Australian GP finishes with a safety car!!! 0_0. Well, Trulli did pass Hamilton at the end... for 3rd place. But he actually overtook him during the safety car period. So, it didn't count and Trulli was punished. So, Hamilton is now 3rd! It's quite amazing. If Trulli hadn't overtaken Hamilton, it would've been a fairytale story. Hamilton 18th >>> 3rd. Trulli 20th >>> 4th. Glock 19th >>> 5th. But, oh well... Guess that's luck.
For the 4th placed Barrichello, the crash meant 2nd place for him. And with that, Brawn take back 1 and 2!!!! Oh my god?

Button takes the chequered flag with his teammate in 2nd. Dreamland for Brawn GP! You know what? 6 weeks ago, it was like they were about to be out of racing. And 6 weeks on, they won 1st and 2nd in both qualifying and raceday! What kind of story is this? *faint*

Yay! Joy for Button.
Oh, and I forgot to mention! Joy for virgins too! =D
Well, at the end of the day, how I wish I was Richard Bransen now. Darn... Credit to Brawn GP. Their first ever race. The revival of the ailing Honda. The work put in. Brilliant race. Apart from Brawn, lots of drama as well. Nothing but a great F1 race. Ah, and newbie & rookie Sebastien Buemi got up to 7th place on his first ever F1 race as well! People say he got promoted too quickly since he didn't really win GP2 like some of the drivers did. But well, he certainly proved that he can perform no matter where you put him in! Even contested a place against Raikkonen! Splendid!
Hope for more action this weekend OH! And did I mention where were the two Ferraris?
Ah I guess we have the answer to that. Back to cleaning up the cars. Sadly, both retired.... Better luck next time, mates!
