OMG in Melbourne.

Today, just witnessed one of the best motorsports action in recent years. Behold, the new Formula 1 2009!

Cool! The drivers support Earth Day!

Ah, it's been a long time coming. Been months since Hamilton won the driver's championship of 2008. This year promised a lot more with new rules and new technology being used. Observe!

A super small car with a super large front wing and a super small rear wing...

Softies, slickies and hardies!

"Curse"..... sorry, KERS system!

And a whole load of weird rules and adjustable wings as well as specially designed rear wings to list out.

Aha! What does this has got to do with the Melbourne race? Everything! Observe! The starting grid!!!!

1. Jenson Button Brawn
2. Rubens Barrichello Brawn
3. Sebastian Vettel Red Bull
4. Robert Kubica BMW
5. Nico Rosberg Williams
6. Felipe Massa Ferrari
7. Kimi Räikkönen Ferrari
8. Mark Webber Red Bull
9. Nick Heidfeld BMW
10. Fernando Alonso Renault
11. Kazuki Nakajima Williams
12. Heikki Kovalainen McLaren
13. Sebastien Buemi Toro Rosso
14. Nelson Piquet Renault
15. Giancarlo Fisichella Force India
16. Adrian Sutil Force India
17. Sebastien Bourdais Toro Rosso
18. Lewis Hamilton McLaren
19. Timo Glock Toyota
20. Jarno Trulli Toyota

Former champion at 18th. Ferrari nowhere near the tops? Bewildered? Don't be!

Picture evidence!

That's how the race started. Well, Barrichello slipped after his engine suffered some weird failures, but eventually got it running as well. Then, unluckily, he got caught up in a mess!

Well, the mess at the back. Look, Kovalainen smashed his back..... Later, he got smashed in front too before escaping. This mess was cleaned up pretty quickly after Kovalainen retired and Heidfeld as well as Webber are forced to pit. Sad, ain't it? Thankfully, Barrichello survived with a slightly spoilt front wing. Lucky eh? Oh, and the Ferraris managed to squeeze through using their soft tyre gamble at the start to go up to 3rd and 5th. Wulala? Wait till you see what happens.

Only at the 10th lap, THE TYRES WERE WORN OUT. How hilarious is that? It was then when the Ferraris as well as Kubica were moving so freaking slowly and Barrichello made his move on Raikkonen. And how lucky it is that the damaged part of Barrichello's front wing got knocked off! Now he's perfectly fine! OMG? Sad for Raikkonen though. And well, 3 to 5 laps later, the soft tyre gambles came to an end as all the drivers with the soft tyres (Massa, Raikkonen, Kubica, Hamilton) are forced to pit due to the worn out tyres! LOL!!!!!
*Note : These super soft tyres only last you 5 laps of performance according to the commentator. Then on, it's disposable sh*ts. 0_0

Another sad story to follow. Piquet gets a little nudge from Rosberg right before the first corner. First, he gets knocked to the side and suddenly accelerates so insanely quick then proceeds to turn and spin into the sand! Guess what happens? Air pollution!!!!!!!!! Gosh, it's only been 1 day since Earth Day!!! =S

From then on, it was a demonstration of overtaking and pit strategies as the teams with the KERS system show how hard it is to get pass them. The KERS *I'd call it a curse* is actually like the nitro boost you get in Need For Speed. You get a maximum time of 6.6 seconds every lap to use it. It can be recharged using braking or something to sort of work the rear tyres. Drifting for the win? LOL. Well, at least in F1, they don't do that. They smoke tyres instead! Woooo!!!!! More air pollution! *Great thanks to especially, Massa* The disadvantage of this is that once this extra weight is placed into the car. The optimum weight point switches and becomes higher. Making grip and handling a lot harder. Hence, the Ferraris struggled a lot while McLarens also did in qualifying. Heidfeld and Alonso had their pain respectively as well. Hamilton wasn't too bad today though. Those were the 6 drivers using the KERS. Unfortunately, Kubica was too tall so the car's weight was a lot more than the required maximum weight if the KERS had been installed. Well, I'd say he's lucky to not be able to obtain the KERS!

At least there's an advantage in it. Timo Glock said something like this... *quotes him* I can't get pass Alonso! Every time I try to get pass him, HE USES THE FREAKING KERS TO GET AWAY! ARGHHH OMGWTFBBQ ^%#@*^$#%)#%.....

Well, maybe not that many bad words. But well, he sounded very desperate. Poor Glock. Well, Alonso got 80 extra horsepower whenever he uses the KERS. So yeah, I guess it had its advantage in playing a defense =P Sort of like the Cursed Seal in Naruto, don't you think? XD

Then, came the main drama! With 13 laps remaining, Vettel goes in and comes out with soft tyres. Button pits and gets out with softs as well. Kubica is now with highly heated hards. Game on! Kubica is going to have the front two for tea! At least, that's what I thought. And it really happened! After 5 laps, Vettel struggled immediately with Kubica chasing him for 2nd. In just 2 laps, Kubica was already at Vettel's tail even when it was a 5 second gap 2 laps before. Game on, I thought. THEN.......

Kubica saw the opportunity.... 2nd place was his! That was the opportunity he had. THE FIRST OVERTAKING OPPORTUNITY that may come along later if he passed this up. It was very tight. But NOOOOOO, it was time to overtake. Robert Kubica makes his move from the outside... and shuts Vettel completely!!! Great....... if Vettel was a stationary duck. Vettel was a car moving at what, 200km/h or more? Not sure. Well, I guess he couldn't do some weird emergency brake. He turned. Boom! Crash! Kubica knocks onto Vettel and Vettel flies into the grass! Kubica has his right side of the front wing damaged, Vettel has his left damaged. They went out. Now, we shall see the role of the Front Wings! After about 100m, Vettel crashes into the wall with failure in handling thanks to broken front wing. 100m in front, Kubica longpiaks also! Boom. And 2nd and 3rd place is no longer theirs with 3 laps remaining! O.O........ Okay, a little bit off. Let the video explain!

*faint* Well, I'd say they seriously blew it. Blame Vettel for not giving up, but I guess you can't really stop a car like that so quickly. Well, you can argue that Kubica might have won it if he passed through. Then again, blame Kubica for being greedy. Battle of two viewpoints. As a result? Vettel got demoted 10 places for the upcoming Malaysian GP *faint* Poor guy...

And AS A RESULT, the Australian GP finishes with a safety car!!! 0_0. Well, Trulli did pass Hamilton at the end... for 3rd place. But he actually overtook him during the safety car period. So, it didn't count and Trulli was punished. So, Hamilton is now 3rd! It's quite amazing. If Trulli hadn't overtaken Hamilton, it would've been a fairytale story. Hamilton 18th >>> 3rd. Trulli 20th >>> 4th. Glock 19th >>> 5th. But, oh well... Guess that's luck.

For the 4th placed Barrichello, the crash meant 2nd place for him. And with that, Brawn take back 1 and 2!!!! Oh my god?

Button takes the chequered flag with his teammate in 2nd. Dreamland for Brawn GP! You know what? 6 weeks ago, it was like they were about to be out of racing. And 6 weeks on, they won 1st and 2nd in both qualifying and raceday! What kind of story is this? *faint*
Answer to the question on top : The Curious Case of Jenson Button *credit to Chung Ren*

Yay! Joy for Button.

I name this picture "The Joy Of Virgins"

Oh, and I forgot to mention! Joy for virgins too! =D

More joy! He must feel like a hero now...

Well, at the end of the day, how I wish I was Richard Bransen now. Darn... Credit to Brawn GP. Their first ever race. The revival of the ailing Honda. The work put in. Brilliant race. Apart from Brawn, lots of drama as well. Nothing but a great F1 race. Ah, and newbie & rookie Sebastien Buemi got up to 7th place on his first ever F1 race as well! People say he got promoted too quickly since he didn't really win GP2 like some of the drivers did. But well, he certainly proved that he can perform no matter where you put him in! Even contested a place against Raikkonen! Splendid!

Hope for more action this weekend OH! And did I mention where were the two Ferraris?

Ah I guess we have the answer to that. Back to cleaning up the cars. Sadly, both retired.... Better luck next time, mates!

The Agony

It's been two days since I wake up to a nightmare. No, it was not from a nightmare, but to. Weird isn't it? Whatever it is, it was one heck of two days. Let me just show you how painful it is. For instance, this morning. I woke up expecting nothing. I didn't really know it would come so fast. I thought April 2nd.... but, IT HAD TO COME TODAY.

Dear Jia Yong,

Thank you for your interest in Johns Hopkins. Your official decision notification has been mailed to you today; you should receive it shortly. In the interest of letting candidates know their decisions as soon as they become available, the Admissions Committee has decided to initially release this information by e-mail.

I am very sorry to inform you that we are not able to offer you a place in this year's class. Every year Johns Hopkins receives a large number of applications from highly qualified students. The Admissions Committee gives careful consideration to every admission request, and this decision was reached only after a thorough review of your application.

I understand that this may come as a disappointment, but I hope that it is tempered by good news from other schools to which you have applied.

Thank you again for your interest in Johns Hopkins and please accept my best wishes for a successful college experience.

Sincerely,

John Latting
Dean of Undergraduate Admissions

Holy crap =_=. Yeah, got to thank Kai Sheng for informing me on MSN first. Gosh, the forum said April the 2nd! Darn.... Well, at least I knew it was impossible. Encouraging letter? NOT! I hope the third paragraph comes true in the form of Princeton. But judging from the reality that is I was rejected by almost everyone already *except 2 impossibles and 2 hopefuls*, I think not. I guess that sums up my days hah? I am in dire need of luck...... NOW.

Two days ago, I woke up because of an SMS, MMS *it was a voice message since my lousy phone doesn't even enable recordings >.>* and a phone call, all from Kai Sheng, informing me of his own rejection from Berkeley as well. And guess what? I just had to call my mum up for the tense moment. Opening the websites from my email and going through tedious processes of opening two emails just for a PIN and a password, it became clear the outcome. As I opened up, something similar to the letter on top came up on both sites. Maybe Duke was more encouraging and lengthy. After all, it was from a Duke. No matter. For me, it didn't make a difference. I just closed it upon reading the first two paragraphs in the colossal message from Duke. The outcome itself outweighed what was written there. Mere words can't dash away my feelings now. That ever so hopeful optimism I possessed disappeared in the two days.

Although the rejections, it wasn't really a big deal. Well... it is a big deal. But to me, I had expected it right from the start. Right when I first applied. My SAT result wasn't 2400. My SAT2 had a flaw in my Biology. My curricular activities... questionable. My essays, well, luck. Which brings down to this word, luck. You know, I seriously wonder if good luck would ever come to me. People say your 18th year on Earth is always an unlucky one, and the process repeats for years which are 4380 days apart. Well, if I hadn't jumped Year 4, perhaps this would have been delayed for a year and I would have a better chance.

However, everything happens for a reason. Can't help but think back all the amazing things that had happened to me. Even if it was little, it was well worth it and certainly been a jolly ride. I just hope that I have enough in me to withstand the next 4 days...... towards one April Fools' Day, which is certainly not a day to fool around about. It is judgement day, and what an important day it is in the tale of my life! Hope shall be restored... I hope. Till then, I shall keep my wishes intact. 4 more universities to go! Don't give up! Don't back down! The finish line is just ahead! Till then, mates...

Oh and two more things. First,

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And next, something I wish to share while I'm in this world of despair..... Heard of Haru Haru right? It is by far, one of my most favorite songs in this whole wide world of music. Well, try a Big Bang orchestra! Well, not exactly. Orchestra for background music? WHOA AWESOMENESS! Hopefully this shall steer me towards that world of hope again. Here, I present to you, HARU HARU ORCHESTRA VERSION!

Oooooooooahhhhhh!!!!!! Total pwnage of a music. Nice suits, as always from BB. GD has weird hair..... I love the chest pumps. Ahhh! How sexy! LOL. Love the bridge as well. The remix and change of tones were seriously the bomb!

Ok, I sound like a fangirl now. No matter. After all, they seriously are one heck of a group. Too good for any other Korean groups in my opinion. Haha, I guess this really is my bringer of light in this total darkness hah? Speaking of total darkness, Earth Hour? THAT'S TODAY! Oh god, I shall be closing my computer during that hour as well. Haha. Perhaps my good deed shall make my Karma better? I think not. Well, I guess it's good to do more good. Whatever I get doesn't matter.

Hope I get what I want on April the 1st. Really hope so. Wishing, praying, hoping. Optimism come to me! Ahhh!! I just can't bear the worst case scenario!!! Ahh!!!!!!!!!!

*Message from the panic mind* =S

Cornflakes Worm?!

Beware Conficker worm come April 1

In an event that hits the computer world only once every few years, security experts are racing against time to mitigate the impact of a bit of malware which is set to wreak havoc on a hard-coded date. As is often the case, that date is April 1.

Malware creators love to target April Fool's Day with their wares, and the latest worm, called Conficker C, could be one of the most damaging attacks we've seen in years.

Conficker first bubbled up in late 2008 and began making headlines in January as known infections topped 9 million computers. Now in its third variant, Conficker C, the worm has grown incredibly complicated, powerful, and virulent... though no one is quite sure exactly what it will do when D-Day arrives.

Thanks in part to a quarter-million-dollar bounty on the head of the writer of the worm, offered by Microsoft, security researchers are aggressively digging into the worm's code as they attempt to engineer a cure or find the writer before the deadline. What's known so far is that on April 1, all infected computers will come under the control of a master machine located somewhere across the web, at which point anything's possible. Will the zombie machines become denial of service attack pawns, steal personal information, wipe hard drives, or simply manifest more traditional malware pop-ups and extortion-like come-ons designed to sell you phony security software? No one knows.

Conficker is clever in the way it hides its tracks because it uses an enormous number of URLs to communicate with HQ. The first version of Conficker used just 250 addresses each day -- which security researchers and ICANN simply bought and/or disabled -- but Conficker C will up the ante to 50,000 addresses a day when it goes active, a number which simply can't be tracked and disabled by hand.

At this point, you should be extra vigilant about protecting your PC: Patch Windows completely through Windows Update and update your anti-malware software as well. Make sure your antivirus software is actually running too, as Conficker may have disabled it.

Microsoft also offers a free online safety scan here, which should be able to detect all Conficker versions.

UNIVERSITY REPLIESSSSSS!!!!!!!!

Okay, I am about to faint. Well, that's how you'd feel when you have just been rejected by UCLA and UCSD at the same time few days ago. And now, what's next is far worst? Let me show you my list.

UC Berkeley (March 26th) - My last hope in California..... Better than top two. Hence, I am deadddddd

Harvard (March 31st) - I shall knock my head against the wall if I get this one

Yale (March 31st) - I'll shave myself bald

JHU (April 1st) - Treat my dudes and dudettes out for dinner!

Duke (March 26th) - YAY! Another dreamy one!

Cornell (March 31st) - Would surprise me if I get it! XD

Princeton (March 31st) - My dream university. I'll chia all of you some hotel buffet if I ever get in. I'm serious. If I get it and I'm going there, I'll let you all slap my face. LOL!!!! *joking, maybe just smash me in badminton*

Ahhh!!!! I still want Princeton so badly. But oh well, desperate people never get what they want. Already expected a no-show from all of them since the start of application. Still remain the same. Will be optimistic but still be aware of reality. No doubt, will change my life forever.

No matter though. There are other paths in life. Opportunity knocks once? Don't think so. Besides, there are a lot of paths towards it! Just need to work your way to find that path! Awesome! Who knows? I might actually go to Adelaide to meet BX and friends if I get rejected by all! Haha! Good news too! XD. Don't worry, I'll remain optimistic. Pray for me! LOL.

A decisive week. Moment of truth! Wish me luck! =D
