Telling your wife she's not pretty may soon be an offence

KOTA KINABALU: A husband telling his wife that she is no longer pretty in an attempt to humiliate her can be classified as an emotional violence offence if amendments are made to the Domestic Violence Act (DVA)1994.
The plan is to amend the DVA for the inclusion of a clause on emotional violence against women.
Currently, they are only protected only against physical abuse, Women's Development Department director-general Datuk Dr Noorul Ainur Mohd Nur said.
She said on Wednesday that the aim for proposing the amendment was to safeguard women both physically and emotionally.
Dr Noorul said emotional violence was a form of abuse that would deeply scar a woman and lower their self-esteem, dignity and self-confidence.
“It could be a case where her husband tells his wife she is ugly or humiliates her until she feels emotionally pressured,” she told reporters at the end of a seminar on how to curb violence against women at Wisma Wanita here.
She added they were in the process of bringing the proposed amendments to Parliament.
State Community development and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Azizah Mohd Dun closed the seminar organised by Sabah Women’s Affairs Department.
Azizah, in her speech, said that there was a need for the law to protect emotional violence against women.
Azizah said there were a total of 99 cases of violence against women in Sabah in the first quarter of 2009 compared to 220 cases during the same period last year which was reported to the police.

Basically something about terrible incidents happening which could be quite serious but yet if you look at it in another way, you may find it kind of hilarious. Well, been quite a while since I officially blogged. Gah, maybe need to sweep some cyber dust here. Here goes!
X-Men Origins : Wolverine
Yeah, you gotta love X-Men. You gotta love Gambit. More importantly, the one who started it all, Wolfie, I guess. Went to watch it with a gang of friends *youknowwhoyouare*. I actually feel that this movie has more meaning and suspense to it than the original X-Men trilogy. More action throughout the movie compared to well, explanations and dialogues that are quite predictable or already known from the comic. Even if you haven't read the comic like me, remembering them from cartoons is pretty easy. However, how was life before X-Men? Consider me a little bit of an amateur in the X-Men, but I actually felt this was a brilliant movie to illustrate what was to come in the trilogy. Even though certain mutants had short spells or sudden unexplainable appearances like how Gambit only appears when Wolverine was about to be "crushed" by a wall at the end, it was a pretty good movie throughout. The story itself is what amazes me. Plenty of humor too. You don't see audiences laugh constantly in a superhero movie often eh? A little bit of sarcasm here and there. Great movie throughout and great cast too. Not entirely full of superstars but only some like Hugh Jackman, Ryan Reynolds and will.i.am. Say what you like, it was a great movie and bound to be one of the best in 2009. Haha, okay, after all that, here's my rating.
Then, on the Saturday, guess what. I experienced my first computer failure on this computer I have for more than a year. Power supply failure. I guess some lizard crawled into it and managed to get itself zapped when I switched on the powa. Like Talon's little problem last time I suppose. Or it might have been something else. Not sure. But ah well, I did do a couple of trial and error attempts to find out the problem. It ended up on almost like, what... 5 times in which I got a blackout at home? Not sure. But I'm sure my parents got frustrated and annoyed >.<. Got it fixed on Monday and came back on the net again! Yay! Ah, what more? On this day, 06.05.09, another two great things occured. Yesh! Behold, take two!

Aha! I almost forgot! Today is 2NE1's debut! Well, got to say this was highly anticipated, considering YG promised a big debut and they are supposedly like a female Big Bang. Listened to it once and boy am I addicted. More importantly, I'd like to salute them for not taking the cute, kawaii path like some of the female Korean groups have done. Haha, being bad girl totally owns the opposite of it! XD. Besides, there's also another badass street version available if you search on YouTube. Not the best song in the world but certainly a very addictive song I am looping right now. Better than most of the girl groups' debuts! Hah! *I am a little prejudice since I'm biased towards Big Bang* Space version! Love the outfits and setups! <3 What to do? Already got myself with 2NE1 flu. Ah well, I guess it's good that the Big Bang addiction can be stopped for some time, eh? XD. Made my day and week! Yesh!
