Penang Trip : Day 1

Ok, I've been lazy I admit. Paiseh for being that way. Well, holidays have been.... a little boring. I can't really think of a place to go. So much for the plans of exploring Penang. After all, I think I've been to pretty much everywhere in Penang.... perhaps. But no matter. There was still some unfinished business. Even though it's a slow process *thanks to the fact that I do not have a car*, I still got my chance. =P

Let's begin. Day 1! It all started after I dropped my dad at his workplace. Then, I rushed off sooner or later only to find out I violated some traffic rules in the workplace itself..... >.>. Oh well, I still didn't realise it until I got home. No matter. I drove myself to Esplanade in which I started my "photowalk"/exploration with my trusty IXUS 860!

Wahaha, jealous? It's quite stylo, ain't it? Well, that's what I brought with me and let the photo session begin!

Right. After snapping about 30 photos or so, I decided to head on to the Museum for a look-see. After all, this was an exploration. No other place than that to discover Penang and its origins! And tell you what? I wasn't disappointed at all. It was very new. They added tons of stuff from what was left out last time out *I went 5 years ago*. It is only now that I know Penang was called Pulau Ka Chu........ It's just a weird name =.=. Well, they've done a good job by turning the Museum into a gallery or display of Penang and its history in a very detailed manner. It was quite an upgrade really. I must say that it is a must visit whenever you are free or keen about knowing your roots. *Suggestion for WY =P* Here's a picture or two of the Museum.

After an hour or two there, I parted ways with the Museum. Then, it somehow started raining. Bad timing. I was walking. Ahh! Run I did, and thankfully, I managed to get to the car. There goes my morning. It wasn't long before I reached Chung Ren's house. Well, I suggested lunch out with Yon Hon as well but he's ignorant and prefers homecooking. So well, I had to give up. Now, let's see two houses. Without telling which is whose, I'll ask you all to compare first! :D

Obama in the Virtual World!

Aiks, I'm so behind schedule in my reading, and yet I got time for this. I wanted to blog about the frustration from tmnuts for cutting my connection/phone line just for REPLACING CABLES. But I guessed that'd be an emo and notsointeresting (boring) post to blog about. Besides, it's not like it's a big deal. But they got it done before 6pm when it was originally planned for two days. Pretty cool hah? Maybe they're not so bad in their job after all? Then again, hold that thought.

Anyway, Obama you see on the title? Yes. This post is not to complain about tmnet's recent screw up, but about Obama and how great he has become! Not exactly the biography sort of way, but more, in a gamer's sense. First, let's present, PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA *or to be*!

Handsome, ain't he? Well, this was probably the product of a million snaps but I don't blame them. It's their job to stand in front of the camera eh? Just joking..

Anyway, you've seen the new President Obama. What about President Obama digitized?


Yay! How fitting! He looks good in that black suit hah? I happened to come across this game when I read the article on Yahoo! linking me to this. And I couldn't help but blog about it! Oh ya, I played with it for about 15 minutes! Yay! Now, let's present Obama in........................... SUPER OBAMA WORLD!


Yep! You got it! Super Obama World! It basically is the same thing as Super Mario World, just Obama-fied! At first, you play Obama, in this Mario sort of game. He doesn't wear the black suit at first ;-). You'll face piggies, robbers?, flaming rubbish, lorries and all sorts of challenges ahead, some which requires the process of jumping on them to eliminate them! Don't jump on burning rubbish though =X.

You play multiple stages in Alaska and throughout the North American territory. Watch out for stage names. For example, this one! I CAN SEE RUSSIA FROM MY HOUSE! I wonder if Russia is only a mile from that part of Alaska.... Hmm.... Perhaps there was a Mount Everest 2 there.... Maybe.


Yay! An Obama powerup! Instead of a large Mushyroom, you get, an oversized cake. Cheese cake? Not so sure. But all I know is that when you get this, you get the cool black suit with shades on Obama D=.

Running the Great Bridge!

HA HA! Finally, after spending 16 years of my life not bothering or knowing about one of the biggest events in Penang, here I am now putting a nice big cross on the Penang Bridge Marathon box! Let's put it short, I HAVE FINALLY DONE IT.

Well, although it's a little participation certificate, it still means a lot. Besides, I don't even know if I'd be in this merry place come next year. So this is sort of a once in a lifetime experience for me.... if I don't ever come back that is. Chances are I will though. Regardless, it was one breathtaking experience.

I took part in the Fun Run. Kinda more for newbs like me who lack the stamina T_T. *I admit I need a workout, corners* Hence, I took part in the lesser competition, just to try it out and experience it as well as test myself out. It felt kind of exciting at first. I targeted a 1 hour 30 minutes finish for this 10km run that I got myself into. Let's just say it all backfired. Nonetheless, I still finished in time =). Before the run, though, some people told me about finishing in 45 minutes @_@. You know who you are. Ahaha, maybe you wanna take it back now? XP.

Here is a rough map of the distance I covered in this marathon.
Well, the path in pink is the one I covered. It might look short, but it was actually a run all the way to the middle span of the gargantuan bridge. Pretty tiring I must say. I was complaining about the uneven surface of the bridge the whole way though, it was pretty disappointing, especially when I felt a little crack on my nerves now and then. However, at least I came up unscathed with NO blisters. hahaha! That was surprising. Anyhow, the pain in my leg is still undeniably there till now. Argh, cannot do any kind of sports this week T_T. Hope I get well soon lol.

The view was good. The weather was cool and refreshing in the morning. After all, it was what, 6 a.m.? Let me tell you that the place was already very crowded at 2, even though I wasn't there. Spankin' stuff I would say. There were freebies all over. 100 plus, cereal, Milo, mineral water. Not bad hah? At least I can snatch some of those after the race. XD. Oh ya, speaking about freebies, there was obviously refreshment stations all over. Very good I would say..... not! When I arrived, it was basically 'mineral water'-less and the guy even offered little cold water to wash our hands! *it looked dark...........* Anyhow, I didn't dare to try it lol. Free ice too. *at the other stations, NOT THAT ONE*.

Ah it was interesting. The most challenging part was the bridge I would say. Half of it was already tiring enough. I felt like vomiting at times. Too bad I didn't =P. Like I said, it was pretty much an uneven path which is so not "running-friendly". Imagine if you run this bare foot! D= I'd be the first one to chicken out LOL.

Well, like I said, the view of the island from the bridge is really something. Quite nice. Sight-seeing is a must-do when you run this! Cameras not recommended though, otherwise you'd end up like Shaun. Speaking about Shaun, he was the best runner among all I would say. Not in a quick kind of way. Like I said, most of us felt like vomiting there right? Imagine running 10 kilometres with a bag containing about 2 kilograms of stuff inside! Ahh, it was only after the race that he complained about backache though. Eng kai! XD. I'm sure Ripalo will blog about this. Haha.

Besides that, the sanitary station is a must-see. Well, if you're eating, maybe not. It was quite interesting. It looked like a phone booth to me. You know, those in American shows? Yeah. According to Zen/Wayne, the tank to contain the waste was probably just about the height of a garden gate....... *again, those you see in American shows*. Hmm, imagine someone making "Secret Recipe's Chocolate Cake" in there....... Okay, screw that thought!

Well, I did get any pictures of this though. It wasn't particularly wise to bring a camera. After all, I had a pack of biscuits, my handphone and my wallet with me already. Oh ya, did I mention my watch's rubber snapped on me on the way to the finish line? Nawhtee watch! Now I gotta get it fixed. Sad...

Ah well, memorable day. Oh ya, we finished at about 8.00 or so. And one more thing, NONE OF US GOT THE FREE SAGA. AHH!!!! Roti canai and teh tarik was too tempting. LOL.

Wrong Number

Well, recently *or for the past few months* I've been receiving weird phone calls. Don't ask me why. Somehow, it's always asking for the same person..... from different people. Woah, my status has been upgraded to land dealer according to them >D. Though it ain't nice as I usually receive them at the wrong time. No matter.

Speaking about Wrong Number, I recently went back to my addiction of DBSK songs, even though there was a recent halt in that. Another song got me into things. Quite nice actually. Addicted to this XD. Behold!!!! Wrong Number!

These are the two songs from DBSK that I'm currently into. Well, not really the two songs I'm into though. Haha. Recently, I got the hang of some Korean music. They are really good actually, given that their language may be really hard to pronounce. I'll post up two samples. One's a total badass song, one's more of a soft ballad soothing for the ears. Amazing bands. Ironically, all boy bands XD.

Starcraft IS Epic

Let me introduce you to a game I find an epic!


Ta-daa! Introducing Starcraft! One of the most played games among all the computer games, not to mention one of the best as rated by the whole world. Unlike other games which were produced as the same time as this, this was far more advanced. From hi-tech graphics to awesome battle system, from realistic movies to wicked sound clips, Starcraft has it all! What's more? Soon, there'll be Starcraft 2, which is currently the most highly antitipcated games coming out this Spring or so! Starcraft fans should know what I am talking about, right?

Though, apart from all that "crash boom bang fight!" or drama in the game, I did mention sound clips right? Let me ask you a question first. Anyone has any idea how to sound like an alien?........... Hmm.... Oh we have an answer! Will Mr. An Yun Sang please stand up with your answer!

Something from an old robotic time....

Yesterday, I was about to find myself some copies on my results in my entire secondary school life in order to hand it to the old school of mine to do some transcript thingy.... not too sure what that is. It was supposedly needed for the application of universities, or so they claim. Whatever it is, it was certainly one heck of a mess when I wanted to search for them. Usual right?

Anyway, it proved to be successful as I not only managed to find the required documents. I also found something to blog today! This was done by one of my friends last year. A magnificient effort, don't you think? See it for yourself! *slaps it on the post*

It's A Bubbly World Out There!

I just saw a fascinating eye-opener on KBS world today...... For more info, it's a Korean Channel. It was aired just before a Korean drama series my aunt was watching at my gramps' place. Interesting? You ain't seen anything yet. It was mostly about showing their slow motion captures on their so-called "Slow Mo Cam".....

What I saw really caught my eye, although it was just a little portion of the show.... *towards the ending*. Though, it already made me blog about it. What is it? Bubbles! You know, bubbles are fun when you make them. They are beautiful..... well, bubbles. It's just a wonder of life if you ask me. Interesting scene.

Though, one question. What do people do with bubbles? Simple. They pop them! Notice that people tend to have an addiction to that.... Somehow, it's a total "waste of time", yet, most find it really fun and awesome at times. It's just a way of relaxing I suppose. It's like popping bubbles of anger in your mind. Anyhow, would you know what happens when you pop a bubble?

Balloons?

I recently had a hot streak with DBSK's music..... or to Japanese, TVXQ or Tohoshinki. They're really a good listen if you ask me. Been listening to their music only for five days and for the past two days, a little mixed so I wouldn't get bored. Still on top of my hit list. As for one, still the top of the top. Hehe....

Well, apart from the cool looks and spiky hair sometimes, there are a lot of things that you'd think people wouldn't do... especially, DBSK. But somehow, they just DID. And boy is it funny and certainly, WEIRD! Have a good laugh! :) May balloons put a smile on your face! =)

Wulala to the Max?!

Trials is over. I've got to admit I'm pretty torn apart by my results. Meh, they are quite bad. Expected I guess..... not really for my biology though. So far, it's been pretty shocking. Though I had expected it from my Chemistry anyway.... ARGH BIOLOGY!!!!!

Ah well, I guess LIFE SCIENCE isn't everything to life, is it? Sometimes, it's just a little pat in the back to let you go for it the next time round. Gobble it up like a monster! Wakaka!

Anyway, I got a request from a certain someone *youknowwhoyouare* that she wants a wulala which is made up of two Onionheads! Instead of one..... She craves romance.... sue her =P. Ah well, more work for me! But the result ended up great!..... for my standards, that is.

Mine Engriss Iz Bat........

Maybe it is a fact. Maybe it isn't. But well, I still feel that I don't really have a very good English. Yes, it's true. Blogging only requires simple English. If I go on a vocab test, I'd end up failing. Anyhow, to confirm this, I went to a simple test of English brought to you by the UCLES Examination Board! A simple English test called.................. IELTS!!!!

Well, it was last LAST Saturday that this happened. I can still remember. The day before our country's independence day, which was on August the 30th. A grand day perhaps? Well, to think that I had class for this. Anyway, well, for me, another class skipped I guess. Though, it was alright. After all, I had to skip one of it anyway. Besides, I took IELTS also for the fact that I need it as an English requirement. Big deal.....

So anyway, here was it. IELTS is split into four parts basically. Listening, Reading, Writing And Speaking. Basically, these are the four parts that we have to take on in the test, which lasts for about a day. How do I prepare? Well, the guide book was of no help to me. Though I did get some info on the format of the papers. I had to search the ever so "canggih" internet for the answers and samples to the tests. Anyhow, they proved to be useful in the end. Though, still, I screwed my writing XD.

Ok. Let's give a brief description of the tests. First, Listening test. This is the first tests of all tests. It's basically just testing your english through hearing. Typical listening test if you ask me. Though, I screwed it to get a band 8.0/9.0. Well, maybe I need hearing aids? It is simply just filling in the blanks and questions like that. Nothing that intimidating to being with.

Then, comes reading. Basically, it was just a reading comprehension marathon. Again, nothing much. Though, it was relatively easy for my test. I got a spankin 8.5 for it! Yay! Basically, it was just finding the text to the answers which were complicated.

This is followed by Writing, probably one of the more tougher ones among the four tests. We were required to write about a chart showing the number of people in one household, comparing each location stated and the trend of the timeline. Next, was about comparing group studying to self studying. Well, the first was like a description for the data only. The second required a little more mind squishing. Got a 7.5 for this. Oh well.....

The fourth and final part was a Speaking test. It is basically a 1 on 1 conversation with an examiner, who records this conversation and sends it to the IELTS almighty board to determine the standard of your "speech"! This is a wonderful song, one that may be used to describe my current situation now..... Not completely, but somehow, it feels really suitable, the tone, the atmosphere, the sadness and all. Looking back at Euros

As another major footballing tournament unfolded, we look back to this year's fantastic European Championships, which delivered one of the most exciting football of the year. The winner was of course, the mighty Spaniards, a deserving and comfortable winner of this year's tournament. No surprises right from the start. Now, let's have a look at the notable events in this year's European Championships. Shall we?

Van the Man finishes World Champions Italy in a 3-1 rout in the opening group match of the Group of Death

No such problems for favourite Portugal. A certain Ronnie made sure of that against the Czechs to march on into the quarters

Another favourite, Germany, though, suffered a defeat from the Croats with captain Michael Ballack in the picture. The men in blue pull through with this victory though

Giants Holland look to show another World Cup finalist the door as well, beating them 4-1 with Dirk Kuyt here, scoring the first of the 4 thunderous goals. Holland pull through and France have to now face Italy to decide their future in the Euros, that is, if Romania fail to produce a result against Holland

Germany have their say in their last group match, defeating hosts Austria 1-0, to advance to the quarter finals, also in the very last day, joining Croatia.

Villareal hitman, Kahveci Nihat, finishes off what was an amazing comeback, to bring the Turks 3-2 ahead on the very last minute, thus securing their places alongside Portugal. Wonderful!

World Champions Italy join the rest of the pack at the very last minute, defeating France and marching on into the Quarter Finals, with hope glowing brighter than ever. They join Holland

Russian star, Andrei Arshavin in action during the last game of their group stage as well. Though, the difference was, they beat Sweden in the last game, advancing ahead of Sweden to join high-fliers Spain.

Yep, you guessed it. It was the ever dominant Espanyol! Though I already mentioned it anyway =P. Finally, a team who plays entertaining football! Fantastic win, though, since they had been underachievers all the while. Finally, they proof that their football is not just for looks!
